Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Cycle B: October 1, 2006
General Intercessions
Our Response is Lord, Hear our Prayer
For the Church: that we may all strive to be prophets of God’s Word, and that His spirit might be bestowed upon all of us, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear our Prayer
For the members of Congress: that God will inspire their deliberations as they seek to strike balances between opposing truths, and that they will hear the voices of those who are marginalized and forgotten by society, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear our Prayer
For healing amongst the daughters and sons of Abraham: that God will heal the wounds and misunderstandings, and bring reconciliation and greater cooperation amongst followers of Islam, Judaism, and Christianity, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear our Prayer
For those workers who are underpaid, for those who are expected to work unfair shifts, and for any young children who are forced to do unjust physical labor: that we may hear their cries and walk humbly beside them, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear our Prayer
For the members and friends of St. Paul’s: that we may have the grace to curb our desires for wealth, and instead focus our energy on appreciation and helping those less fortunate than ourselves, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear our Prayer
For the silent prayers of our hearts and for any special prayers you wish to mention now...
(Pause for others to pray and for the priest to conclude with prayer)
