Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Cycle B: February 5, 2006
General Intercessions


Our response is Lord, Hear Our Prayer.

For the Church: that we may follow God's example of healing the broken-hearted by comforting those who are sick, those who are grieving, and those who are in prison, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear Our Prayer.

For salvation: that every person will know that that just as God numbers the stars and calls them each by name, so also does he understand and care for every person, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear Our Prayer.

For those affected by domestic violence, by genocide, and by all political violence: that a desire for peace will take hold and bring an end this darkness that destroys lives, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear Our Prayer.

For those suffering from physical and mental illness: that the demons of fear and hopelessness will be cast out and replaced by the light of faith, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear Our Prayer.

For the members and friends of St. Paul's: that we will be able to share the Word of God to those who are in despair to reach out and share the comfort of faith in God, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear Our Prayer.

For the silent prayers of our hearts and for any special prayers you wish to mention now...

Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time

General Intercessions


Our response is Lord, Hear Our Prayer.

For the Church: that in following the teaching of Vatican II, we will manifest in our ordinary duties the love of God, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear Our Prayer.

For all who are alienated from God: that the Spirit will bring true repentance and openness to all who are in the bondage of sin, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear Our Prayer.

For the grace of courage: that we may persevere in following Christ day by day despite obstacles and challenges, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear Our Prayer.

For those who are preoccupied with possessions and material wealth: that they will be freed of their anxieties, and comforted in the knowledge that faith is the most precious of all possessions, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear Our Prayer.

For the members and friends of St. Paul's: that we will not harden our hearts if today we hear God's voice, we pray to the Lord:

For the Church: that we may introduce others to Christ through our lives, our deeds, and our words, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear Our Prayer.

For salvation: that God will be able to make his ways known to all people, and show sinners the way of righteousness, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear Our Prayer.

For the healing of the human family: that the Spirit of God will heal the wounds and scars of prejudice and racism and that all people may work together for justice and dignity, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear Our Prayer.

For all who are discerning their life’s calling: that the Spirit of God will guide them to recognize God’s loving invitations to utilize their gifts and talents in the service of God’s reign, we pray to the Lord:

For the members and friends of St. Paul's: that, like Simon, Andrew, James, and John, we will be able to abandon our own desires and follow God, we pray to the Lord:

For the Church: that we will treat our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear Our Prayer.

For salvation: that all people will come to understand that our bodies are for the Lord, and that his salvation is for all of us, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear Our Prayer.

For those who hunger, who are homeless, or are suffering from disease: that those who see them will recognize them as members of the Body of Christ, and will try to help them, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear Our Prayer.

For those who are resuming classes this week: that they will be able to work hard for the entire semester, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear Our Prayer.

For the members and friends of St. Paul's: that we will have the courage of Samuel to answer God by saying, ‘Here I am,’ we pray to the Lord:
