Petitions for 10/29/06

Here are this week's petitions! I know that yesterday was World Missions Sunday, and alternate petitions were used. If I knew about days such as these (it's difficult to keep track of all of them), I would be happy to incorporate them into my intercessions. Or, if alternate intercessions were used, I could take a break for a week.

General Intercessions

Our Response is Lord, Hear our Prayer

For the Church: that we may follow Christ in tending to the needy and marginalized in any capacity we can, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear our Prayer

For all people who exercise authority: that they may use their power to call forth the gifts of others, free those who are unjustly imprisoned, and to lead others to freedom, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear our Prayer

For all those suffering from violence, disease, or despair: that the calls of Christ will give them the courage they need to stand and face each day, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear our Prayer

For all expectant mothers, that God’s grace might foster love for the child in their womb, we pray:
Lord, hear our prayer

For the members and friends of St. Paul’s: that we may have the grace to surrender our pride by honestly appreciating our gifts and weaknesses, and giving up ourselves to God, we pray to the Lord:
Lord, Hear our Prayer

For the silent prayers of our hearts and for any special prayers you wish to mention now...
(Pause for others to pray and for the priest to conclude with prayer)
