Petitons for 10/23/05

It's Domestic Violence Awareness Month, as well as Respect Life Month, so I wanted to make sure that both of those were represented. Also, if you want to put this week's references to the earthquakes in the Middle East and the mudslides in Guatemala in the petitions for 10/16 as well, with slight variations, go for it. We should probably mention them!

*****Before you copy and paste the petitions, please try to CLICK HERE - I uploaded the file to my Wisc account, and I think that having the file is easier than copying and reformatting things, right? Let me know if this helps you!*****

Feel free to leave me a comment on how I'm doing! Also, James, have you heard anything about the Peace and Social Justice Group? It's kind of late now, but even if I just have the information for next semester, that'd be good. Thanks!

General Intercessions

Our Response is Lord, Hear our Prayer

For the Church:
that we will strive to follow God’s second greatest commandment by loving others as ourselves, and reach out to those who feel alienated:
especially to immigrants, widows, and orphans, we pray:
Lord, Hear our Prayer

For all of those suffering from natural disasters,
especially those in the Middle East affected by earthquakes and those in Guatemala affected by mudslides:
that they will be able to look to God for strength and deliverance from strife, we pray:
Lord, Hear our Prayer

For all who suffer from domestic violence:
that God will open opportunities for movement to safety,
and bring healing to their wounds, we pray:
Lord, Hear our Prayer

For a greater respect for life:
that the Holy Spirit will open all to a deeper recognition of the beauty and mystery of life in all its stages, we pray:
Lord, Hear our Prayer

For students and teachers feeling stressed from exams and assignments:
that they will look to the Lord as a stronghold of refuge, we pray:
Lord, Hear our Prayer

For the members and friends of St. Paul’s:
that we may be able to practice God’s greatest commandment by loving Him with all our hearts, souls, and minds, we pray:
Lord, Hear our Prayer

For the silent prayers of our hearts and for any special prayers you wish to mention now...
(Pause for others to pray and for the priest to conclude with prayer)
